Luke Saucier is a lifelong restaurateur, having spent over 15 years overseeing the day-to-day operations of multiple restaurants in his family-owned business. He has also gained invaluable experience as the owner of several companies including restaurants, a building maintenance service and a company supplying both industries. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, is a Certified Serve Safe Instructor and Proctor. Mr. Saucier is also a skilled artist and writer. Saucier has been active in his local chapter of the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program and in addition to being awarded Big Brother of the Year as recognition, Saucier served on its Board of Directors. Saucier is passionate about music and serves on the Board of Directors of his local symphony. An avid runner and a true family man, Mr. Saucier is happily married with two daughters.

Mr. Saucier believes that now, more than ever, people entering the restaurant business for the first time need practical knowledge on a broad array of subjects from the legal environment in which we operate to financial reporting to morale and team building. There is no substitute for experience, but the more you educate your self in the early stages of the process, the less you will suffer as you acquire that experience. It is for that reason that Saucier wrote the book “Cooking With Gas: The Official Guide for Restaurant Start-Ups and Operations”

Check out one of the reviews of Saucier’s book:

To the typical patron of a restaurant, the operations within that restaurant may appear to be fairly straightforward -- not much more complex or risky than serving multiple meals to guests at home, and having lots of help on hand to assist in the process. But the reality is quite different, because patrons dining in a restaurant usually only see the best face put forward to the public, and are spared the hard work and turmoil that takes place behind the scenes.

The restaurant business can be a remarkably tough and unforgiving business, especially if the new restaurant owner lacks experience and is unprepared. It is no wonder that most restaurants go out of business within the first few years. But that won't happen to you if you educate yourself, starting with Luke Saucier's Cooking With Gas: The Official Guide for Restaurant Start-Ups and Operations. The author skillfully conveys to the reader a plethora of valuable information about the business, and the many pitfalls that one needs to avoid.

The reader and prospective restaurateur will greatly benefit from Saucier's expertise and hard-won knowledge, as he points out the most common mistakes made by beginners in the business, and suggested strategies for success. Dishing up his good advice with flair and enthusiasm, Saucier wraps up his masterpiece with a wide variety of observations for the budding restaurateur.
